WHO CAN APPLY
Who can apply for US student visas can sometimes depend on individual circumstances, but there are some general criteria all applicants must meet.

  • You can apply for an American student visa or study permit if you have been accepted by a United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)-approved high school, university, community college, Christian college, career college or graduate school.


  • You must prove that you can pay all of your expenses, including return transportation for yourself and any family members who accompany you.


  • You must be in good health, and willing to complete a medical examination.


  • You must be proficient in English, or enrolled in courses leading to English proficiency.


  • You must be a law-abiding citizen with no criminal record, and must not pose a risk to American security.


  • Finally, you must maintain a residence abroad that you have no intention of giving up.
